Inscribed by the great liberal crusader Rev. Dr. Harrington to the great boxing champion: "To Gene Tunney and family, a good neighbor, for whom I was a bellhop at the old "Harborview" in Edgartown one summer, in warm admiration, As always yours, Donald Szantho Harrington, August 1, 1965." Donald Harrington was a Unitarian minister and a great leader of the American Social Gospel movement. He was also the public face of New York's Liberal Party in its heyday as a candidate for public office and its titular state chairman.
