Softcover. Quarto. 149pp. Bradbound in blue wrappers. Some wear to the yapped edges with interior pages bright and fresh, near fine plus. Laid in is a photo of Vidor. This is the unproduced screenplay based on the true life tale of actor James Murray, who was discovered by Vidor on the lot of MGM, and picked to star in the silent film classic *The Crowd* in 1928. Soon after Murray succumbed to alcoholism, which ruined his career and likely contributed to his drowning death eight years later at the age of 35. Vidor ran into Murray a few years before the latter's death, when the actor was begging in the streets, and offered him a role in his newest film, but Murray refused. The memory of Murray's reversal of fortune haunted Vidor for the rest of his life and prompted him to dramatize the sad story.
