Hardcover. First edition. Ownership stamp of film production company Famous Players-Lasky, fine in very good or better dustwrapper with a scrape on the front panel. A collection of six short stories, at least three of which were filmed. The title story was the basis for the 1923 film *Big Brother* directed by Allan Dwan produced by Famous Players-Lasky. It also served as the basis for the 1931 film *Young Donovan's Kid* directed by Fred Niblo and starring Richard Dix, Marion Shilling, Jackie Cooper, and Boris Karloff (a few films before his star-making turn in *Frankenstein*). The the story "Too Fat to Fight" was the basis for the 1918 film of the same name directed by Hobart Henley. Also, the story "Recoil" was filmed by T. Hayes Hunter as *The Recoil* in 1924 with Mahlon Hamilton, Betty Blythe, and Clive Brook.
