Softcover. First edition. Red wrappers printed and decorated in gold. Small tears and slight loss at spine ends, very good. Nice gift inscription from an important theatre collector: "To Ralph W. Carey with best wishes from his friend and fellow dramatic collector Evert Jansen Wendell. Jan. 29th, 1914." Wendell was a noted Harvard athlete, who left many literary manuscripts to Harvard, and compiled one of the great theatre collections. In 1905 he sold Augustin Daly's own copy of Ireland's *History of the New York Stage,* at auction for $6,664 to George D. Smith.
