[Engraved portrait]: Mr. Murray Publisher Of Lord Byron's Works

London: C. Tilt, 1833.

Price: $50.00

Unbound. Small Engraving of John Murray II, the publisher. 9 1/2" x 6 1/2". Engraving by Edward Francis Finden after Henry William Pickersgill. Seated figure of Murray looking over a text. Crease at upper right-hand corner, small tear, and light foxing. Murray was the second proprietor in the long-standing Murray family printing business, and is known primarily for his connection to Lord Byron, for whom he published *Childe Harold's Pilgrimage* in 1812. After Byron's death in 1824, Murray was in attendance as the poet's memoirs were burned after a heated argument over the publication rights and questionable content.
