Ownership signature of Lady Valsamaki, about whom we know little beyond the fact that she is mentioned in Edward Lear's diaries, spine ends worn, and splits to the cloth at the edges of the spine, a fair only set of this triple decker. Laid in is a note in an unknown contemporary hand noting "Books lent me by Lady Valsamaki this day Friday 14th 1858". The list includes both this book and several others, including *Little Dorritt*.
