Ink owner name on the verso of the added marbled endpaper, light rubbing, near fine. Signed under the half title "by Owen Wister Oct 3. 1917." The seminal Western, generally considered the first cowboy novel and the book that defined the genre. Filmed numerous times. Although copies are occasionally offered with Wister letters, actual signed copies of the book are scarce.
