Special deluxe issue of the Catalogue of the Anniversary Exhibition with essays on the various artists by many distinguished art scholars and critics. This is Copy #5 of 100 numbered copies. Several of the scholars have Signed their contributions. Among those who have signed are Lloyd Goodrich (on Thomas Eakins), Edward W. Root (on George Luks), Dorothy Grafly (on Charles Grafly), Franklin C. Watkins, Walker Hancock, Wilbur D. Peat (on William Merritt Chase), Marian Carson, Edgar P. Richardson (on Benjamin West), Henri Marceau and Charles C. Sellers (on Charles Willson Peale). Also laid in are several ephemeram related to the exhibition including a menu to celebratory dinner (as well as a miniature facsimile of a menu for the centenary dinner), a program, invitation, ticket and first day of issue postcard and stamp issued to commemorate the anniversary, as well as an unused plate block of the same stamp (Peale's "The Artist in His Museum") and invitations or programs to a private viewing of the collection and a chamber music performance in connection with the anniversary. A splendid collection of material relating to an important American institution.
