Noted genre fiction writer whose ability to place fanstastic stories within every-day settings, such as his modern vampire novel I Am Legend or his science-fiction tale The Shrinking Man, inspired a new generation of writers, most notably Stephen King. Matheson also contributed many of the classic scripts and stories for Rod Serling's Twilight Zone.
