First edition. Boards a little dull, else near fine in an attractive, very good dustwrapper with a couple of tears on the front panel. Inscribed by the author in the year of publication: "For my dear Phil, with love, Ellen Glasgow. October 20th, 1941." Pulitzer Prize winner. Basis for John Huston's second film, starring Bette Davis, Olivia de Haviland and many others (including those in Huston's cameo joke scene with the cast of his recently completed The Maltese Falcon: Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet, Mary Astor and others seated at a bar being served by Walter Huston). A nicer than usual copy, not usually found signed.
