Lewis's classic novel of a staid, retired car manufacturer who takes a trip to Europe with his wife and learns more about her, and their relationship, than he did in twenty years of marriage. Basis first for a stage hit, and then for the excellent 1936 William Wyler film featuring Walter Huston, Ruth Chatterton, Paul Lukas, Mary Astor, David Niven, and Maria Ouspanskaya. Wyler, Huston, Ouspanskaya and the picture itself were all nominated for Oscars. A superb copy.
