Daisy Mayme First edition. Fine in a good plus dustwrapper with soem modest chipping, particularly at the spine ends. This play about the female owner of a Harrisburg shop who meets a widower at Atlantic City, was Kelly's first after his Pulitzer Prize-winning Craig's Wife, and included a part for Josephine Hull, who also had a key role in that play. Although critically acclaimed, it had a limited run, but was later revived as a radio drama with Ethel Merman and Dean Jagger. Of more recent interest, it has been revived again for a feminist audience, because of the strong, self-reliant female protagonist, in one instance with Jean Stapleton in the lead role. Very scarce in jacket. [BTC #98502] |
