Sonette an Orpheus [Sonnets to Orpheus] First trade edition. Papercovered boards, spine tender and moderate foxing to a few pages, near fine in a fine example of the rare dustwrapper. A beautiful copy of one of the author's two greatest poetical works (alongside his Duino Elegies, which he finished along with composing this work in a frantic three week period). Sonnets to Orpheus finally brought Rilke international fame just a few years before his death in 1926. A fragile book almost never seen in dustjacket. Housed in a custom full leather clamshell box.
