You Too Can Make a Speech First edition. Very slightly soiled, else fine in near fine dustwrapper with a few creased tears. Inscribed by the comedian and actor to Joe DiMaggio: "To Joe with my love, George Jessel." DiMaggio was something of a staple of New York cafe society. Jessel began performing at an early age in Vaudeville (partnering as a child with Walter Winchell and Eddie Cantor), then he moved on to Broadway and film, though during his long career he was largely known for his appearances as master of ceremonies at various functions, and his many scandalous love affairs about which he was eager to speak. Winchell once remarked of Jessel: "That son of a bitch started to reminisce when he was eight years old." With letter of provenance signed by DiMaggio's two granddaughters. [BTC #92461] |
