First edition, first printing, with the De Vinne device; signature mark 12 present; and with 14 pages of advertisements. Green cloth stamped in black, red, and gilt. Penciled owner name, old front hinge repair, a small and faint stain on one leaf of text, extremities a little rubbed, but still a lovely, just about fine copy of this children's classic. Filmed on numerous occasions, probably most memorably in 1936 directed by John Cromwell, and featuring Freddie Bartholomew. BAL 2064.
