Go Saddle the Sea

London: Jonathan Cape, (1978).

Sold

Hardcover. First edition, presentation issue(?). Green morocco with marbled papercovered boards, titled in gilt, with the author's initials stamped on the morocco on the front board. Pages browned, else fine. Inscribed by the author to a children's book library. Also tipped-in to the book is a Typed Letter Signed from Aiken to a professor thanking him for a copy of Walter De la Mare's *Three Mulla-Mullgars,* and sending this copy of her latest book to him in exchange for the library of children's books he is attempting to collect for a public library. Presumably this is a presentation binding, or possibly even Aiken's own copy, as it differs from all other copies we've seen, and we know that the recipient wasn't in the practice of rebinding books. The library in question recently deaccessioned the entire collection, but those responsible were smart enough not to deface the books with stamps or other ownership markings while they were held under their stewardship. Possibly unique.
