First edition. A tiny bit of foxing on the front fly, still easily fine in a beautiful and fresh, fine dustwrapper. Nicely Inscribed by the author in the year of publication: "For Barry Karl, with the hearty good wishes of the author. A.B. Guthrie Jr. Louisville, Ky., April 30, 1947." Basis for the 1952 Howard Hawks film, scripted by Dudley Nichols, starring Kirk Douglas as a frontier fur trapper coming to the aid of scene-stealer Arthur Hunnicutt. A beautiful copy of a cheaply manufactured book.
