Hardcover. First edition. Slight sunning, near fine in a very good, price-clipped dustwrapper with some light spotting, and small nicks and tears. The play, directed by George Abbott, ran on Broadway for 956 performances between 1943 and 1945, and was the basis for the 1945 film directed by Richard Wallace and featuring Shirley Temple, with a supporting cast that included Robert Benchley, Darryl Hickman, and Darren McGavin. Wallace re-filmed it in 1949, again with Temple and Hickman, but this time co-starring David Niven and titled *A Kiss for Corliss*. Afterwards, it was produced as a teleplay on television's *The Alcoa Hour* in 1955. Very scarce.
