FULLER, Samuel
Inscribed Promotional Photo for the film Park Row
Black and white photo, 8" x 10" of film director Samuel Fuller and one of the film's producers, standing and chatting in front of several promotional posters for Fuller's 1952 film, Park Row. Inscribed by Fuller: "To Fred I. Archibald -- with best wishes -- Sam Fuller. 5-5-52." An uncommon signature, and a nice artifact from an early and interesting Fuller film about the New York City newspaper wars of the 1880s. Some consider the film an overlooked-classic -- in particular its tribute to freedom of the press (Fuller began his career as a tabloid journalist) was in marked contrast to mainstream Hollywood's fear of the McCarthy witch hunts.
