First edition, limited issue. A trifle rubbed, fine lacking the original unprinted acetate dustwrapper. One of 246 numbered copies Signed by both the author, and Mina Turner, who contributed the frontispiece photograph. Additionally this copy is nicely Inscribed by Benet, who has handwritten a long "key" to the characters in the novel, in part: "Sylvia is Elinor Wylie, Peter is S.V. Benet, The Carl Carmers are called Barker, ... Darlington Tracy is Christopher Morley, Club Cavalier is '21', ... see page 389." On the designated page and the following pages, Benet has indicated which characters in an Algonquinesque meeting are Dorothy Parker, George Gershwin, Marc Connelly, Harold Ross, Deems Taylor, Robert Benchley, and Russel Crouse. A semi-autobiographical novel in verse that won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1942.
