SHELDON, H. Horton and E.N. Grisewood

Television: Present Methods of Picture Transmission

First edition. 194pp. (1pp. ad). Tiny owner's name stamp, foxing to the boards and the endpapers, a few faint splash marks on the front board, a very good copy lacking the rare dustwrapper. The first American book on television prepared for commercial distribution, the book contains a comprehensive historical overview (just two years after Philo Farnsworth applied for his first patent), much technical data, heavily illustrated with diagrams and photographs (as well as one color plate on color spectrums), and speculation about the future of the technology. Quickly reprinted, the first edition is exceptionally scarce. Shiers. Early Television: A Bibliographic Guide #1899.
