First edition. Spine and extremities a little sunned, a very good or better copy in a price-clipped, very good dustwrapper with some tanning to the spine and a small chip at the crown. Briefly Inscribed by the author: "Lee Painton's copy. Maxwell Anderson. 1951." A nice copy of this uncommon play about Socrates. Basis for a notable 1966 television movie directed by George Schaefer and featuring Lloyd Bochner, Geraldine Page, Anthony Quayle and Peter Ustinov.
