First English edition. A trifle foxed, still easily fine in fine dustwrapper with some foxing on the rear panel. Laid in is the remnant of a wrap-around band with part of an Edmund Wilson review. Midwesterner comes to the big city to uncover his true father and learns his birth is the result of his mother's brief but wild sojourn in Greenwich Village. Powell applies her wit and furious action ensues. A late novel by one of America's best but least known authors, who has recently undergone a rediscovery.
