First edition in first issue binding. Numerous illustrations. Contemporary bookplate of L.S. Alexander Gumby on the front pastedown, and a couple of spots on the front board and edge of the spine, else a bright, about fine copy of a surprisingly scarce collection of dialect Christmas poems. Gumby was an African-American book collector who compiled 300 scrapbooks, which, donated to Columbia, have proven an invaluable resource for the study of black life from 1850-1960.
