Light sunning to the delicate green cloth, near fine in an about near fine dustwrapper, tanned at the spine and with a chip at the crown affecting a few letters of the title. Signed by the author and dated 1930. Three of the stories in this collection were the basis for notable films in the silent era. "Terwilliger" became the 1923 film *Children of the Dust*, directed by Frank Borzage. Borzage also directed *Lucky Star* with Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, the 1929 film adaptation of "Three Episodes in the Life of Timothy Osborn." And the story "Four Brothers" was filmed in 1928 as *The First Kiss*, directed by Rowland Lee and starring Fay Wray and Gary Cooper.
