HUGHES, Hatcher

Hell-Bent Fer Heaven

First edition. Fine in an attractive, near fine dustwrapper with a shallow chip at the crown, and some soiling on the rear panel. The jacket is the earliest state without the Pulitzer Prize sticker affixed to the front panel. Basis for the 1926 J. Stuart Blackton-directed film Hell-Bent for Heaven featuring Patsy Ruth Miller and John Harron. Very scarce Pulitzer Prize-winning play, set amongst the mountain people of the Carolinas. Seldom found in jacket, and rarely without the sticker announcing the Pulitzer Prize.
