MILLER, Henry (Sidney Omarr)
Original 23 page manuscript of Miller's foreword to "The Astrology of Henry Miller" by Sidney Omarr
Bradbound 23 page manuscript in two parts: 14 pages signed in type and dated "Big Sur, California July 25th, 1956" and a further 9 page manuscript entitled "Continuation of Foreword to 'Astrology of H.M.'" Signed in ink by Miller and dated October 16, 1956. Pages are mostly ribbon copy and display light but frequent corrections in type, as well as in pencil and ink in Miller's hand. Modest smudging to the pages, a near fine example. Omarr was the "astrologer to the stars" and published a daily horoscope that appeared in more than 200 newspapers; his books of horoscopes sold over 50 million copies. He started out during the Second World War at the age of 17 when his predictions of horse races, boxing matches, and other sporting events were broadcast on Armed Forces Radio. Omarr and Miller became close friends, sharing the same tastes. Omarr liked to surround himself with beautiful women and was the personal adviser to Jayne Mansfield, Rita Hayworth, Kim Novak, and Mae West, among others. Omarr wrote a book on Miller, Henry Miller: His World of Urania, and Miller wrote the introduction to Sydney Omarr's Astrological Guide to 1973 and the liner notes to the record album Presenting Sydney Omarr. A substantial Miller manuscript on a subject dear to Miller's heart.
