The Friendly Persuasion First edition. Owner name, fine in very near fine dustwrapper with none of the usual fading of the spine, but with a little soiling and a tear at the bottom of the front flap fold. A scarce wartime title whose story of a Quaker, torn between his conscience and his religion over whether to participate in the Civil War, had obvious implications for contemporary America. Basis for the excellent William Wyler film that featured Gary Cooper and Anthony Perkins. A much nicer than usual copy. [BTC #57587] |
