America or The Sacrifice: A Romance of the American Revolution

Photoplay edition and the first edition of this text. Fine in very good or a little better dustwrapper with some overall light age-toning and a couple of small nicks and tears. Illustrated with stills from the D. W. Griffith film America featuring Neil Hamilton, Carol Dempster and Lionel Barrymore. Scenes from the costly film, Griffith's last great silent epic, were shown to virtually every school-age child in America's major cities for several decades. The romantic plot of the film actually had little to do with Chambers' original novel but the author, a good friend of the director's who also provided the film's titles, wrote this entirely different novel for the photoplay edition.
