Between the Covers

Unbound. Image size 7.75" x 4.75" on a larger thick card mount. Gelatin silver photograph of the dramatic aftermath of a train wreck. Some rubbed spots and small flecks on the photo, but mostly on the mount, very good. Pencil notation partly obscured on the verso which seems to shed little light on the subject of the photo. Photo reveals about a half dozen cars which have jumped the tracks, with the locomotive buried beneath another car and bend rails. More than a dozen men surround the wreck with several standing atop one of the wrecked boxcars. Examination of the wrecked railroad card reveal cars from the Grand Trunk Line and from the Boston and Maine Railroad. The two lines merged in 1884, and presumably this would be after that date.
