New York: Standard Flashlight Co., 1938.

Price: $225.00

Unbound. Panoramic photograph of a large black-tie gathering of African-Americans in New York City. Approximately 18.75" x 10.5". Showing perhaps 150 people both men and women, well-dressed, with many wearing paper hats or crowns. The Park Palace was in East Harlem. Several groups called "The Merry Makers" existed in various geographical locations in the first half of the century, whether they were affiliated or not is not easily discerned. This particular Club is mentioned frequently in "The New York Age", a traditional black newspaper. Standard Flashlight Company was a longtime New York photographer who seems to have specialized in group shots.
