The magazine has featured critiques on literature, philosophy, and social sciences. A couple stories and essays are written by William H. Gass as well an early version of the story *The Tunnel* which was later lengthened and published into a full novel in 1995. This issue also features Cynthia Ozick's "Puttermesser and Xanthippe" which was later printed in *The Puttermesser Papers* in 1997.
