Illustrated with steel portraits and a fold-out map (with tears) in rear of volume one. Lacking the portrait of Abraham Lincoln in volume one and lacking the frontispiece of Ulysses S. Grant, portraits of Rutherford B. Hayes and James A. Garfield in volume two, hinges cracked with loss of spine on volume one, spine ends on volume two are chipped and worn, front endpapers clipped and some page corners, some newspaper offsetting, dampstained in volume two, a fair to good only set.
