Hardcover. First edition, first issue. Two volumes. Octavos. Each volume with the half-title printed in red, 10 hand-colored plates and 120 wood-engravings by John Leech. In the original gilt decorated publisher's purple cloth. Two early owner's signatures in ink and pencil on the front free endpapers. Moderate fading to the spine and edges, corners are bumped, front joint and hinge of volume one is partially split (still holding snug) with a chip at the crown, good. The scarce first issue in book form of John Leech's great satiric work, complete as issued in the original cloth.
