Hardcover. First edition, first issue. Warwick Goble endpapers. Hinges cracked, boards a bit faded, a very good copy of the author's first book, one of only 765 copies published. Tipped-in is a Typed Letter Signed by the author ("William McFee") apparently enclosed with a number of books he signed, grumbling about the quantity and the uncongeniality of unwrapping and rewrapping books, as well as refusing to comply with his correspondent's request to write something about the conception of his books. In a memorable line he states: "You might as reasonably ask a mother for the details of the conception of her child."
