Death Rides a Painted Horse

Hardcover. First edition. Moderate foxing to the edges, near fine in a lightly worn, near fine dustwrapper. Third and final Steve Considine novel, in which the New York detective is "recruited" to stop a traveling carnival which is a front for a dope ring. Wilmot himself had been a carnie and done much hard-traveling, lending some authenticity to the hardboiled edge of his writing. He also worked for a time in Hollywood, most notably writing the overlooked parody *Hollywood and Vine*.
