Hardcover. First edition. Slight smudging to boards, still just about fine in near fine dustwrapper with a little edgewear. Rubberstamped signature of the author on the front fly – apparently he wasn't doing a lot of author signings. Memoir of a West Virginia businessman who was jailed for murder, and who used his experience to become a leading advocate of prison reform. Laid in is a fundraising appeal for the Prisoners Relief Society dated in 1939, and a promotional pamphlet for this book. Scarce in jacket.
