Ex-library copy with stamp on copyright page; withdrawn stamp on front fly, name struck through on the title page. A fair only copy lacking the folding map, spine partially perished and replaced with older book cloth, itself worn, and wear to the boards. The earliest guidebook to New York, the next two were published in 1814 and 1817. *Howes* M703: "Inspired Irving's burlesque *Knickerbocker history*."
