Drum-Taps [bound with] Sequel to Drum-Taps
New York; Washington: (The Author), 1865; 1865-6.
Sold
Hardcover. First edition, second issue (one of only 1000 copies, the preferred issue with the inclusion of the *Sequel* containing the first appearances of "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd" and "O Captain! My Captain!"). Publisher's purple cloth stamped in gilt and blind. Minimal wear at the foot, a small lightened spot on the spine, a nice, very near fine copy. Housed in a custom half-morocco clamshell case (incorrectly labeled "second edition"). Upon the death of Lincoln, Whitman delayed publication to add *Sequel to Drum-Taps,* with separate pagination, table of contents, and title page. *BAL* 21398.
