Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde First English edition, wrappered, first issue. Nicely rebound in half red morocco gilt, with the wrappers bound in at the rear. Housed in a red quarter-morocco slipcase. A short classic of world literature, vividly portraying the split personality of the good doctor, and by extension the dual nature of all men. Basis for at least three film versions, most notably the 1932 Rouben Mamoulian version with Frederic March and Miriam Hopkins, and the 1941 Victor Fleming version with Spencer Tracy, Ingrid Bergman, and Lana Turner. A pleasing copy. [BTC #291851] |
