Bookplate on the front pastedown, foxing to the first few pages, some moderate rubbing and soiling to the boards, a solid, very good copy with the gilt lettering clear and readable. The first translation into English of this exotic novel of ancient Carthage that belongs in the second rank of the author's work behind Madame Bovary.
