Unbound. 16" x 12". Lightly soiled at edges, near fine. Portrait of George John, second Earl Spencer. As first lord of the admiralty, Spencer led England to victory in the battles of St. Vincent and Camperdown, settled the mutiny at Spithead. In addition to his government and military work, he was also president of the Royal Institution, served as a trustee of the British Museum for forty years, and in 1812 was one of the founders and first president of the Roxburghe Club.
