Unbound. Small engraving. 4 1/2" x 3 3/4". Slight foxing, near fine. Jackson was a letter-founder, began his career as an apprentice to William Caslon the elder. In 1756 he was producing his first specimen-sheet of types. In 1773 he produced another sheet including Hebrew, Persian, and Bengalese letters. His business flourished until 1790 when his moulds and matrices were damaged in a fire. He continued his business and cut for Bensely a font for Macklin's *Bible* and another for Hume's *England.*.
