SLOAN, John

Typed Letter Signed

Typed letter Signed "John Sloan" to cartoonist and fellow "Ashcan School" artist Gus Mager on the letterhead of The Artists and Writers Club, of which Sloan was treasurer, dated September 6, 1934, soliciting a donation from Mager towards the club's goal of continuing to be able to provide daily free dinners for destitute artists and writers. Very good with a short tear, light abrasion along the horizontal fold and some other light wear, the text easily readable and unblemished. Mager has noted his contribution to the fund in the lower right corner in pencil and signed it "Gus."
