Signed Military Commission

Vellum framed, approximately 11" x 16", folded three times vertically. Signed by Queen Victoria at the top. Commissioning William Hart Noble to the post of First Lieutenant in the Corps of Royal Engineers, given at court at Windsor and stamped December 20 1847, and entered in the Office of Ordinance 15 August 1848. Also Signed by Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey, one of Britain's most distinguished military leaders of the early Nineteenth Century, who at this late point in his life was serving as Master General of Ordnance. An attractive document.
