Hell in Harness First edition. Illustrated by Ervine Metzl. Free font endpaper lacking, foxing to the edges, a very good copy in a very good dustwrapper with a long triangular chip at the bottom of the front panel and several other chips and tears. Still an attractive copy of this oddity, a crime story in verse featuring lines like "I lamped Spike's mug; his glims were wide, He had a pound of hop inside." Based on Auslander's poem Knockout, innocent East Side prizefighter gets the chair thanks to his gangster friends. Includes the invaluable "Slanglossary." [BTC #15937] |
