Biography

A direct descendant of composer Johann Sebastian Bach and an aviation enthusiast (he once allowed his family car to be repossessed while he still owned an airplane), Richard Bach's early works, Stranger to the Ground (1963) and Biplane (1966) are both accounts of his flying. They caused critics to compare his writing ability with that of St. Exupery and Ernest K. Gann. He went on to write the bestselling Jonathan Livingston Seagull, as well as of numerous other inspirational and fable-like tales, some autobiographical, and others featuring animals from eagles to ferrets, in addition to his famous seagull. - from Contemporary Popular Writers and Contemporary Authors Onlinemore
