ANGELOU, Maya

(Teleplay) Sisters

First edition. Quarto. Mimeographed sheets in brad bound, printed orange card covers. The final shooting script for a television miniseries. Very faint dampstain on the front wrap else near fine. Several pages on different colored paper laid-in, meant to be interleaved. Also laid-in is a call sheet for the actors indicating what time they are to report for makeup and set-call. Two pages, slightly offset from clippings about the series, laid in. This copy nicely Inscribed by Angelou, who is listed as the sole author, to a noted author and professor: "Roy Hill For you, for always Joy! Maya Angelou Feb.2, '79." Also Inscribed by the director: "To Roy Hill Also a Brother John Berry/ Feb. 2, 1979." Also Inscribed by lead actress Rosalind Cash: "Dear Roy -- With love & deep appreciation Always, Rosalind -- (The Collards made me well!)." The film, broadcast in 1982 as Sister, Sister, also featured Paul Winfield, Diahann Carroll and Irene Cara, who won an NAACP Image Award for her performance. Exceptionally uncommon autobiographical script by Angelou; no more than a handful would have been issued.
