First edition. Offsetting to the rear blanks, the front fly has been carefully removed, and the half-title has a small newspaper photo of Wilson affixed, else a nice, very good copy in a modestly spine faded, very good dustwrapper. Inscribed by the author: "To the Workers' Defense League of New Jersey, With best wishes for their success, Edmund Wilson. April 11, 1939." An attractive copy of a scarce book, about the United States and Russia, with an appropriately socialistic inscription.
