Henry Green

<< 1939 >>

A personal selection of ninety-nine English language novels published between 1939 and 1983, chosen by author Anthony Burgess. Because he included some trilogies and series, it's actually more than ninety-nine (rather like thinking "all the Beatles" only counts as one on your desert island 10 CD list). To his credit, Burgess did not select any of his own works, the best known of which is A Clockwork Orange (and which was actually not his personal favorite among his own books anyway).
